The Grana Padano PDO
Consortium

Manufacturing Plant

The Grana Padano Cheese Protection Consortium brings together producers from regions such as Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Trentino-Alto Adige, and Piedmont.

Furthermore, the Grana Padano Cheese Protection Consortium includes authorized facilities for the cutting of Grana Padano PDO cheese and for packaging grated Grana Padano PDO cheese.

They all play a crucial role in ensuring adherence to the traditional Grana Padano recipe, necessary to achieve the high-quality standards outlined in the production regulations.

The Grana Padano PDO Consortium

For over 70 years, the Grana Padano Cheese Protection Consortium has been made up of producers, cheese aging specialists, and retailers, maintaining the original recipe and high-quality standards recognized in each cheese wheel produced.

The Grana Padano Cheese Protection Consortium was officially established on June 18, 1954, in Lodi, in accordance with the registered regulations.

On April 24, 2002, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s decree formally recognized the role of the Consortium in promoting and supporting the development of Grana Padano and protecting its PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) status, safeguarding its interests, and providing the public with accurate information.

Inspiration

The great cultural, historical, and socio-economic heritage of Grana Padano PDO, gained over its long history, is a valuable legacy that should be widely recognized, supported, and protected. That is why we are here. The Grana Padano PDO Cheese Protection Consortium (Consorzio per la Tutela del Grana Padano PDO) was founded out of a passion for our homeland. It was established to preserve the heritage brought about by experience and expertise passed down from generation to generation. Its purpose is clear: to protect this unique, rich knowledge and know-how, and to promote its growth.

Laws and regulations

The purpose of the Grana Padano Cheese Protection Consortium, as defined by its regulations, is to globally protect and enhance Grana Padano and its brand reputation.

Therefore, the Consortium will further promote Grana Padano, executing all actions and initiatives deemed appropriate to advance the interests of Grana Padano PDO and expand its market share.

Our values
.

What we value most is the land itself—its wonders, the generosity that allows us to harvest from it, and its power to continually bring us new fruits. Secondly, we value the people who, through hard work, receive the land’s blessings and care for livestock and crops every day, all year round. The third thing we hold dear is our ancient and recent history. Without it, we would not be who we are today, nor would we have an identity to pass on to our children. Fourth, we prioritize our forward-thinking attitude toward the environment, and our constant daily efforts to improve, which enable us to face every challenge with the right mindset.

And then, there is our work. Our goal is to transform our purpose into concrete actions, turning it into specific facts. We strive to do this effectively, solidly, seriously, with strong determination, and with utmost dedication.
